Junior TreeKeeper Camp | Kids Out and About Atlanta

Junior TreeKeeper Camp

Trees Atlanta offers a fun and energetic way for youth in grades 1st to 6th to learn about the urban forest and explore the outdoors during fall, winter, spring, and summer camp. Campers spend time doing hands-on activities in environmental science, exploring the Atlanta Beltline Arboretum, playing games, creating art, and biking each day (2nd - 6th grade) on the Atlanta Beltline. For youth in rising 7th - 12th grade, a 2-week summer volunteer opportunity is available by application.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

We offer fun and energetic ways for youth grades 1 to 6 to learn about their natural world and explore the outdoors. Fall, winter, and spring camps, as well as summer camp, are aligned with Atlanta Public Schools (APS) teacher workdays and school holidays.

During camp, each day is a new adventure! Campers will spend time doing hands-on activities in environmental science, exploring the Atlanta Beltline Arboretum, playing games, creating art, and biking each day on the Atlanta Beltline. It’s fun to make new friends and learn about the importance of our urban forest.

Trees Atlanta Junior TreeKeeper Camp involves outdoor activities that requires bike riding competency for grades 2 through 6. Rising 1st grade campers will be in a smaller, non-biking group.

For Seasonal Break Camps, all campers (Grades 1-6) will be together in one camp. All campers for Seasonal Break Camps must know how to confidently ride a 2-wheeled bicycle.

Camper are organized into these three groups:

  • Sassafras Group: Rising 1st Graders (Sassafras group will not include bike riding.)
  • Quercus Group: Rising 2nd – 3rd Graders (Biking Group)
  • Acer Group: Rising 4th – 6th Graders (Biking group). Each week of camp, Acers will also participate in an off-site field trip. Location is determined by session.
