The 6,400-acre Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center, managed by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, offers a variety of activities and programs. This beautiful area is centrally located in the state in a beautiful wooded setting near Mansfield (an hour east of Atlanta), making it easily accessible from Atlanta, Athens and Macon.
The Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center offers an exciting range of hands-on educational programs for kids and teens focused on outdoor adventure, nature, and conservation. Youth can participate in beginner and intermediate Fish and Learn weekends, where ages 8–15 develop fishing skills, practice casting, and explore Georgia’s aquatic wildlife alongside expert instructors, with plenty of time to fish. The center also features programs in hunter safety, safe harvest, archery, shotgun sports, and wildlife education, as well as special events like summer camps and regional education days. These experiences are designed to spark curiosity, foster environmental responsibility, and build lifelong outdoor skills for young adventurers.
