To understand data collected from the environment around Earth, to predict the space weather that will reach Earth, and to search for Earth-like planets, it is necessary to develop theoretical and computational models for the sun and stars. Stars are made of up hot dense ionized gasses called plasmas, which sustain fluid movement like waves, tides, and flows, driven by heat. Because ionized gasses carry electric charge, these flows are also influenced by electric and magnetic forces, so that they are different than the waves we see on Earth. In a star, these fluid movements change how chemical elements mix and combine, altering the evolution of the star throughout its lifetime.

Thank you, and hope to see you there!
