Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Bike Roswell! and the City of Roswell will bring “open streets” back in 2023 on Sunday, April 30th with Roswell Moves!

A five-block section of Canton Street in historic downtown Roswell will be closed to cars, but open to people!  So bring your wheels and come ready to walk, run or roll during this unique event along Roswell’s favorite street. Activities will take place from 11 a. m. to 3 p.m., while roads will close to motorized vehicles from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Roswell Moves encourages people to explore the community by walking, pedaling, rolling, and even playing. Activity partners and sponsors will provide active and engaging stops along the route, and attendees are encouraged to experience and savor the offerings provided by local merchants in this corridor including Canton Street’s famous restaurants.  Live music will be featured at many of the local restaurants like Rock N’ Taco.  Beverages will be available from local sponsor Top Job Beverage & Events along the route as well.

Using a formula that has been in practice since the 1970s in major cities across the globe, Roswell Moves! aims to promote:

  • active lifestyles
  • alternate modes of transportation
  • positive environmental impacts
  • positive economic impacts

“Open streets programs stress the word ‘open’. Communities can turn a street into a temporary park, using this car-free space for people of all ages and abilities to flow freely in an urban area. We want to encourage people to visit and wander in historic Roswell with a new perspective,” said Lise Walker, President of the Board of Directors for Bike Roswell!, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization promoting safe cycling.

The Bike Safety Rodeo hosted by the Historic Roswell Kiwanis will be featured again as part of this year’s event with on bicycle fun and education for kids.  Participants will have a chance to learn bike safety skills, ensure their helmet is properly fitted and have their bike checked by a certified mechanic.

The Bike Roswell! Mayor’s Ride, will continue as part of the Roswell Moves! festivities again in 2023. This full-supported, recreational bike ride will offer distances of 18, 42 and 64 miles, all routes beginning at 8 a.m. Lunch will be provided for all participants. The Mayor’s Ride is the largest fundraiser of the year for Bike Roswell!.
