Learning SPREE

*The event has already taken place on this date: Fri, 12/18/2020
Ever wish you could take SPREE teachers home with you? Now you can... sort of! We are launching Learning SPREE, our at home, 2-5 week program meant to give your child interactive, independent work that is fun, engaging, and informative! Each Learning SPREE curriculum is designed for several grades (K-7th grade) to encourage siblings to work together, and to provide more than one program for families who are interested.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

In every Learning SPREE pack, student(s) get

  • 5 Missions from Chompers (our beaver boss!)
These missions are meant for your child to do independently, or with the help of an older sibling. Each mission will make your child think critically, solve problems, and observe the world around them
  • Activity video working your child through a craft or experiment that compliments each mission
  • Written instructions for each activity video
  • Bonus resources are included with each mission: scavenger hunts, SPREE stories, bonus videos, extra crafts, and more!
  • A detailed parent guide, to teach how you can "run" this program at home over a 2-week time frame or 5-week time frame

Themes

Operation Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: For grades K-3. What happens to a granola bar wrapper when it gets tossed away? What about a banana peel? A soda can? While all these items may end up in the same landfill, they don’t have to! Join SPREE as we tackle conservation where you live. By the end of the program, you will develop a personalized plan to reduce household waste!

Operation Water Conservation:

For grades 3-5. The water cycle is continually in motion recycling water on earth to the sky and back on earth in the form of precipitation- rain, snow, and hail. It is this element, water, that is necessary for all forms of life. But how much water actually falls in Denver? How much water is available for people to use? How much do you use each day? Answer these questions and more, as we guide you to develop a water conservation plan!

Operation Energy Investigation:

For grades 5-7. Electrical, natural gas, solar, wind, and more! Don't let learning get static, there is so much happening in Colorado around energy. This program leads students through the development of an energy action plan where they live.
