Frog Feeding - Atlanta Botanical Garden
Drop by the Fuqua Conservatory lobby to watch the frogs jump into action when presented with their meals. An amphibian specialist will share fun facts and answer questions about these captivating creatures.
Public frog feedings allow visitors to observe one of the most interesting aspects of these amphibians – their feeding behaviors. Most frogs have long sticky tongues that shoot out at prey. Some, like Poison frogs, are able to do this with such incredible speed and accuracy that all visitors notice are flies disappearing. Others, like the fringed leaf frog, are dramatic feeders that stuff the crickets into their mouths with their hands.
