Cultivating a Passion for Agriculture at Marilyn's Learning Farm and Gardens

By Meg Brunson

We spent a couple days in Hilton, NY (a suburb of Rochester, NY) and Marilyn's Learning Farm & Gardens was located right down the street from where we were staying - plus, it's owned and operated by a family friend. We were thrilled to stop in for a visit and to learn about the various programs they are offering at the farm!

Prior to purchasing the farm, the owner, Linda Judd, was a middle school science teacher at Churchville-Chili and her love of teaching definitely shines through as she interacts with the kids and shares her love for agriculture!

During our visit, the kids loved feeding the chickens grapes and collecting chicken eggs. Miss Linda was amazing with the kids and they had an amazing time learning about (and petting) their dairy cow, horses, sheep, and goats.

While Marilyn's Learning Farm & Gardens is not typically open for drop-in visits, they do offer really unique summer camps focused on involving kids in agriculture, and giving them the opportunity for hands on experience with all the different components that make up a working farm. They do also have plans to launch an After School Program, and Assisted Therapy Programs, plus school teachers can also arrainge a field trip to the farm!  Learn more at https://www.marilynslearningfarm.com/
