Summer Camp at the CARLOS - EPIC! The Life and Times of Gilgamesh

*The event has already taken place on this date: Fri, 08/02/2019
Enkidu, Shamhat, Ishtar, and Humbaba join King Gilgamesh in an epic poem from ancient Sumeria, written in cuneiform on clay more than 3,000 years ago. In fact, Gilgamesh is the oldest known written story!

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Children will get to know the characters and the settings of Gilgamesh through storyboarding, scenography and costume-making, and acting with performing artist Priscilla Smith. Children will also create their own stories on clay tablets using cuneiform script and cylinder seals like the ones in the Morgens West Foundation Galleries of Ancient Near Eastern at the Carlos Museum.
