CANCELLED_Summer Camp at the CARLOS - Dig It!

*The event has already taken place on this date: Sun, 05/10/2020
Children will spend mornings at an “archaeological site”—gridding it off, excavating with trowels, mapping the location of objects—and the afternoons experimenting with their finds and re-creating ancient tools and technology with Emory graduate Leah Neiman, who excavated for four years at Emory professor Bonna Wescoat’s archaeological dig, the Sanctuary of the Great Gods on Samothrace, Greece.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Drop-off is between 8:45-9 AM. Pickup is between 4-5 PM.

Fee: $215 per week for Carlos Museum members; $255 per week for nonmembers. Families registering siblings are eligible for a 10% discount.

*Children enrolled in the camp for 10-12 year olds will have the opportunity to participate in a study with Megan Beney Kilgore, a graduate student in Emory's Department of Anthropology, in which they will learn to make stone tools like arrowheads. Participation in this study is completely voluntary and independent from all regular camp activities.

*Times, dates, and prices of any activity posted to our calendars are subject to change. Please be sure to click through directly to the organization’s website to verify.
