Backcountry Ecological Expedition
*The event has already taken place on this date: Mon, 06/27/2022
Explore the wild side of the Smokies. During this adventure camp, you’ll camp in the woods and will help set up field experiments in support of the All-Taxa Biodiversity Inventory, an ambitious project that aims to document all of the estimated 60-80,000 species found in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Maybe you’ll find a species that’s new to the park — or even to science!
Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.
Explore the wild side of the Smokies. During this adventure, you’ll camp in the woods and will help set up field experiments in support of the All-Taxa Biodiversity Inventory, an ambitious project led by Discover Life in America that aims to document all of the estimated 60-80,000 species found in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Butterflies, beetles, birds, and botany will be just a few of the subjects of our investigations as we explore the creeks and hollows in search of the next organism. Maybe you’ll find a species that’s new to the park — or even to science!
