Artful Stories at Michael C. Carlos Museum

*The event has already taken place on this date: Sat, 11/17/2018
When ancient art, great stories, and inquisitive children are brought together, something exciting happens and young imaginations flourish! This program is for children three-to-five years old accompanied by a parent or other adult. Once a month on select Saturdays, children will be able to sit in the galleries surrounded by works of art and hear stories of ancient Greece and Rome, Egypt, Asia, the Americas, and Africa. After the story, children and their companions will move to the Tate Room to create works of art or participate in activities based on the story and the cultures represented in the Carlos.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.
Gilgamesh the King
Carved onto clay tablets in Mesopotamia over 5000 years ago, the story of the cruel King Gilgamesh and the beast-man Enkidu still captivates listeners today. Children will hear Ludmila Zeman’s beautifully illustrated version of this ancient tale of friendship in the newly reinstalled galleries and then create their own story in clay.

For children ages 3 to 5 with an accompanying adult. This program is free, but registration is required by contacting Alyson Vuley at 404-727-0519 or avuley@emory.edu.
